Answers :

1) Answer: A

Ratio of the ages of Ram, Anil and Manu = 12:15:20

Present age of Tinu = (12x + 15x + 20x)/3 + 1 = 47x/3 + 1

= (47x + 3)/3

[47x + 3/3] – 12x = 12

47x + 3 – 36x = 36

11x = 33

x = 3

Manu = 20 * 3 = 60 years

2) Answer: B

5x – 8 + 4x – 8 + 7x – 8 = 56

x = 5

B’s age = 4 * 5 = 20 years

B’s age after 12 years = 20 + 12 = 32 years

D’s age after 12 years = 32 * 3/2 = 48 years

D’s present age = 48 – 12 = 36 years

3) Answer: A

T + A + S = 64

T/A = 5/4

A = 4/5 T

(T + 4)/(S + 4) = 75/100

3S + 12 = 4T + 16

3S – 4T = 4

3S = 4T + 4

A + T + S = 64

4/5 T + T + (4T + 4)/3 = 64

12T + 15T + 20T + 20 = 64 * 15

T = 20years

4) Answer: B

The ratio of present age of Amir and Abi = 4 : x

6 years ago, the age of Amir and the age of Abi, 5 years hence is in the ratio = 2 : 5 (2y, 5y)

Present age of Amir and Abi = 2y + 6, 5y – 5

After 10 years, the sum of their ages = 56 years

Given,

2y + 6 + 5y – 5 + 20 = 56

7y + 21 = 56

7y = 35

y = 5

Present age of Amir and Abi = 16 and 20

The ratio of present ages of Amir and Abi = 16 : 20 = 4 : 5

So, x = 5

5) Answer: E

(A – 4)/(B + 6) = ½

B + 6 = 2A – 8

2A – B = 14-----------(1)

A + 10 = B

B – A = 10 --------(2)

(1) + (2)

A = 24 years

Sheela = 17 + 24 = 41 years
