A.20 days
B.10 days
C.30 days
D.40 days
E.None of these
2) Jeni can do a piece of work in 30 days. Tanu is 20% more efficient than Jeni. How many days will Tanu take to do the same piece of work?
A.15 days
B.20 days
C.25 days
D.30 days
E.None of these
3) 20 men and 13 women can complete a work in 5 days. 15 men and 20 women can complete the same work in 6 days. In how many days 6 men and 8 women can complete the work?
A.20 days
B.30 days
C.40 days
D.15 days
E.8 days
4) A, B and C together can complete the work in 16 days and C alone complete the work in 20 days. If A, B and C started the work together and after 10 days A and B left the work, in how many days C alone complete the remaining work?
A.6 days
B.5.5 days
C.6.5 days
D.8 days
E.7.5 days
5) P and Q together can complete a work in 6 2/3 days while P alone can complete the work in 12 days, then in how many days the work will get complete, if they work on alternative days starting with P?
A.15 ½ days
B.12 days
C.13 ¼ days
D.16 days
E.None of these
Answers :
1) Answer: C
A + B + C = 1/10
C = 1/20
A + B = 1/10 – 1/20 = 1/20
1/2x + 1/x = 1/20
(1 + 2)/2x = 1/20
1/x = 1/30
2) Answer: C
Ratio of time taken by Jeni and Tanu = 120: 100 = 6: 5
Let Tanu takes x days to do the work.
=> 6: 5::30: x
=> x = 5 * 30/6 = 25 days
3) Answer: D
5 * (20 m + 13 w) = 6 * (15 m + 20 w)
100 m + 65 w = 90 m + 120 w
10 m = 55 w
2 m = 11 w
20 m + 13 w = 110 w + 13 w = 123 w
6 m + 8 w = 33 w + 8 w = 41 w
Women days
123 5
41 ?
Then
Required number of days = (123 * 5) / 41 = 15 days
4) Answer: E
A + B + C = 1/16
C = 1/20
A + B = 1/16 – 1/20 = (5 – 4)/80 = 1/80
10/80 + (x + 10)/20 = 1
10 + 4x + 40 = 80
4x = 30
x = 7(1/2) = 7.5 Days
5) Answer: C
P and Q together can complete a work in = 6 2/3 days = 20/3 days
(P + Q)’s one day work = 3/20
P alone can complete the work in = 12 days
P’s one day work = 1/12
Q’s one day work = 3/20 – 1/12 = (36 – 20) / (20 * 12) = 1/15
Q can complete the work in 15 days
Total units = 60 (LCM of 12, 15)
A’s one day work = 5 units
B’s one day work = 4 units
Work done in 2 days = 5 + 4 = 9 units
Work done in 12 days = 9 * 6 = 54 units
Work will be completed in = 12 + 1 + ¼ = 13 ¼ days
