Let the age of Sachin = x

And the age of his father = 3x

So, according to the question,

(x + 8)/(3x + 8) = 3/7

7x + 56 = 9x + 24

9x – 7x = 56 – 24

2x = 32

x = 16

So, the age of Sachin before 7 year = 16 – 7 = 9 year

And the age of his father before 7 year = (16 × 3) – 7 = 41 year

Hence, the required answer = 9 : 41.
